In rapidly growing cities like Austin, the influx of new residents has led to the gradual disappearance of middle-density housing from the urban fabric. Single-family zones expand outward while high-density towers cluster downtown, leaving a critical gap in the housing spectrum.
This proposal addressed the need for balanced growth through site maximization and the reintroduction of middle-density typologies—duplexes, courtyard housing, and small-scale apartment buildings—while preserving the cultural identity and neighborhood character of existing Austin communities.
